Marine Science Summer Camp Explores Lagoon and Coastal Ocean

– The Florida Tech Department of Marine and Environmental Systems presents a week-long Marine Science Summer Camp Monday July 19th through Friday July 23rd
from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This odyssey of discovery is open to high school students entering the 10th through 12th grades and college students starting their
freshman or sophomore year this fall.

Leading the adventurers is Dr. Elizabeth Irlandi, Florida Tech assistant professor of oceanography. Campers will explore Brevard’s Atlantic Coast and the
Indian River Lagoon while engaging in hands-on activities to examine coastal processes. These include beach erosion and nourishment, the consequences of
freshwater delivery to the Indian River Lagoon, and the transport and fate of pollutants in coastal systems.

The cost for the camp is $300 and students must register before July 9th. Participants are asked to provide their own lunches for the week.
