Next InSTEP Lecture Explores Cosmology: From the Big Bang to Our Pale Blue Planet

MELBOURNE, FLA.— Matt Wood, Florida Institute of Technology professor of physics and space sciences, will present “Cosmology: From the Big Bang to Our Pale Blue Planet” on January 27 at 7 p.m. The presentation will be held in the auditorium of Bayside High School in Palm Bay. Part of Florida Tech’s Integrated Science Teaching Enhancement Partnership (InSTEP) program, the lecture is free and open to the public.

Wood will discuss the structure and evolution of the universe
starting with the Big Bang, through the formation and evolution of galaxies, our own solar system and planet Earth. He will also share important results from recent discoveries.

InSTEP is funded by two grants totaling nearly $3.4 million to Florida Tech from the National Science Foundation. The program enables university graduate students and faculty to work with science teachers in Brevard Public Schools to develop inquiry-based lesson plans.
