Sanders Promoted to Senior Development Director

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Beverly Sanders, Florida Institute of Technology development director since 2006, has been named senior development director, heading a staff of about 12 fund-raising professionals. Newly under her wing is the three-member annual fund drive staff.

Additionally, Sanders leads development efforts for the university’s six colleges as well as efforts for planned giving, stewardship, and foundation and corporate giving. Her oversight includes creating new endowments, offering naming opportunities to potential donors and event planning. Her office organized 10 events in the last six months, including four major groundbreaking ceremonies. Sanders reports to Kenneth Stackpoole, senior vice president for advancement.

“Beverly is an outstanding professional and manager. We are very fortunate here to benefit from her energy, business acumen, creativity and leadership skills,” said Stackpoole.

Before coming to Florida Tech Sanders distinguished herself for 10 years at the Melbourne-Palm Bay Area Chamber of Commerce. Concluding her chamber career as vice president of community and public affairs, her responsibilities there included tourism efforts, legislative affairs, event planning and communications.

Prior to her work at the chamber, Sanders was director of community affairs for the Brevard Workforce Development Board, development director for the Brevard Cultural Alliance and an administrative assistant for the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners and State of Florida house of Representatives.

Sanders earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and communications from the University of Florida where she majored in public relations. She lives in Melbourne with husband Mark and their 12-year-old daughter Haley.
