Florida Tech Library Celebrates Anniversary with Open House

– Florida Tech’s Evans Library will commemorate its 20th anniversary with a rededication and open house on Friday, Sept. 24, from 1 to 4 p.m. The public is
invited.

The library’s construction was made possible largely through the bequest of John H. Evans, a local citrus farmer. He left the greater part of his estate to
build a library at Florida Tech in memory of his wife, Florence H. Evans, and his mother, Artemisa Rominette Evans. The Evans property included the site of
the current Melbourne Square Mall.

The 68,500-square-foot Evans Library also houses the Academic Support Center, the Applied Computing Center and a 140-seat teaching auditorium.

“All the university’s alumni, friends and interested members of the community are invited to celebrate the generous contribution of John Evans and the
generosity of many donors to the library over the years,” said Dr. Celine Lang, Florida Tech dean of libraries.
