Panthers Succomb to Lady Pirates on the Road 72-56

SAVANNAH, Ga. (women’s basketball) — Florida Tech (7-2) was unable to retake the Armstrong Atlantic Pirates (6-4) on their turf falling 72-56 today at Alumni
Arena with the Lady Pirates evening the score for the year with the season tally knotted 1-1 for both teams.

Tech was unable to keep up with AASU’s scoring frenzy from the field shooting 48 % to the Panthers poor 28.2 % for the afternoon rematch. The Lady Pirates
hit nine three-pointers for an incredible 69.2% for the game while the Panthers only managed five from the perimeter with a low 21.7% shooting shut-down.

Shooting was the name of the game and only three crimson and gray Hoopsters found their way in the double figures. Tech turned the game over after the half
and was unable to make a strong enough come-back in the final period despite each team notching 31 points. The Lady Pirates were on fire in the first half
scoring 41 of their points to Tech’s 25 for the staring 20 minutes.

Senior guard Jen Tamilio (Salem, Mass.) led her team with 12 points and four rebounds. Fellow starting senior guard Danielle Vaughn (Tallahassee, Fla.)
chipped in ten points, five assists and five steals. Junior forward Kristin Heminger (Merritt Island, Fla.) also added ten points.

Tech will take a break from competition until after the holidays when they host the 2006 Florida Tech Holiday Classic (SIAC/SSC Crossover) on December 29
and 30 with game times at 2/4:00 p.m. each day. Both games will be covered by live stats along with audiocast on the http://gopanthers.fit.edu website.

The Panthers will face Albany State at 2:00 p.m. on the 29th and Ft. Valley State on the 30th at 4:00 p.m. While Rollins will take on the Ft. Valley State
at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and Albany State at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
