Panthers Fall 1-0 in South Region Action

MONTEVALLO, Ala.(women’s soccer)- The Florida Tech Panthers (3-2-2) traveled ten hours via bus to Montevallo, Alabama to take on regional opponents the
University of Montevallo Falcons (1-4) ultimately falling 1-0 in regulation time. Montevallo proceeded to grab their first goal and first win on the season
in the thirty fifth minute of play.

Coming off the bench for the Falcons, sophomore forward Catherine Honey (Southend-on-Sea, England) took advantage of a corner kick by sophomore teammate
Stacey Balaam (Suffolk, England). Balaam launched a corner through the hands of Tech’s freshman keeper Melissa Pyles (Port Orange, Fla.) when Honey took
advantage of the deflection and on a quick reaction shot found the back of the net for the Falcons.

Despite the one goal, Pyles went the full ninety with five saves ultimately suffering the loss. Pyles is now 2-2-1 on the season.

Fellow Panthers freshman Rachel Devlin (Titusville, Fla.) and Mikaela McKenney (Zionsville, Fla.) put on a good show in the back line playing out of
position and coming off the bench respectively.

Another freshman Therese Svensson (Helsingborg, Sweden) led the Panthers offensively with two shots, while junior captain Ericka Hildreth (Cocoa Beach,
Fla.) also had two shots. Key reservist freshman forward Alef Durant-Wise (Eureka, Cal.) pitched in one shot on goal for the Crimson and Gray.

The Panthers will be back in action hosting Barry University in another Sunshine State Conference match on Friday, September 15 at 4:00 p.m. on the
