Panthers Slither Past Mocs 84-57

MELBOURNE, Fla. (women’s basketball)– The Florida Tech Panthers (17-4, 92) took the Clemente Center court ready to play not wanting to take any chances for
a repeat of last year’s NCAA record five overtime victory. Tech’s 84-57 performance was a complete team effort with 13 of the 14 players scoring and
grabbing rebounds. All fourteen crimson and gray hoopsters saw at least seven or more minutes of play en route to their ninth Sunshine State Conference
victory over Florida Southern (8-14, 3-8) continuing to hold the number one spot with a half game lead over rival team Rollins.

Two Panthers again notched double figures for the night including top scorer Jen Tamilio (Boston, Mass.) with16 points and fellow starter Kristin Heminger
(Merritt Island, Fla.) scoring 10 points. Heminger, along with three other Panthers, shot flawless from the charity stripe hitting 6-for-6 against the
Mocs. Tamilio had three steals and five rebounds while Heminger had three assists and three rebounds.

Tech had a stellar night at the line shooting 27-for-34 to Southern’s 15-for-26 for the match-up. Starting juniors’ Kassie Crimi (Jordan, Minn.) and McKena
Richardson (Quartz Hill, Cal.) each went 2-for-2 along with junior reservist Megan McCartney (Melbourne, Fla.) making 5-for-5. Richardson finished with
four rebounds and six points. Crimi was perfect for the night going 3-for-3 from the field as well as both made at the line hitting eight points.

McCartney along with senior Danielle Vaughn (Tallahassee, Fla.) sparked the Panthers from the bench. Vaughn chipped in nine points, five assists and three
rebounds. She went 3-for5 from the field and 3-for-4 from the charity stripe. McCartney finished with seven points.

Senior 6th man Danise Fequire (Miami, Fla.) had eight points in eight minutes of play. Junior Tenisha Chase (Upper Marlboro, Md.) added six points, four
boards and two assists. Junior Amanda Muns (Chico, Tex.) and sophomore Sabrina Jones (Orlando, Fla.) combined for eight points and four rebounds.

Defensively senior captains’ Kristi Harrell (Melbourne, Fla.) and Shante Johnson (Orlando, Fla.) finished with three and five boards respectively

Finally the remaining two Panthers each added to the scoreboard for the night including newcomer junior Casselle Russell (Miami, Fla.) and sole freshman
Lindsay Greene (Stallings, N.C.). Russell saw eight minutes hitting one free throw and pulling down two boards. Greene saw seven minutes of play adding
three points and one rebound.

Tech will be back in action on Wednesday, February 7th at a 5:30 p.m. tip-off over in St. Petersburg, Fla. facing Eckerd College.
