weVENTURE Seeks Nominations for Women Who Rock Awards

March 23 Virtual Event Honors Women’s History Month

MELBOURNE, FLA. — weVENTURE Women’s Business Center in Florida Tech’s Bisk College of Business is seeking nominations for the 2021 Women Who Rock Awards in honor of Women’s History Month. The winners will be recognized at a virtual event on Tuesday, March 23.

Women and companies are nominated by their peers and the public across five categories: Female Small Business Owner of the Year, Excellence in Mentorship, Women in the Workplace Champion Award, Dr. Mary Helen McCay STEM Award and the Zonta Yellow Rose for Excellence in Community Service Award.

“Research has shown that the COVID-19 pandemic has had devastating effects on women in the workplace and been especially challenging for female entrepreneurs,” said weVENTURE WBC Executive Director Kathryn Rudloff. “This year’s Women Who Rock awards are an opportunity to celebrate local women who, despite a challenging year, are inspiring others through their work and leadership.

“We also want to recognize those local businesses who have helped support their female employees and have championed their success in the workplace,” Rudloff added.

Out of an abundance of caution and in accordance with social distancing guidelines, the traditional awards luncheon will be a virtual event. It will take place at 11:30 a.m. March 23 via Zoom. Nominees from each of the categories will be showcased before the winners are announced.
