About
J. Travis Hunsucker, Ph. D. is an Assistant Professor of Ocean Engineering at Florida Tech His research focus areas are ship hydrodynamics, frictional drag of biofouling, wave mechanics, and dynamics of marine spacecraft recovery. He has worked with the US Navy, IMO, NASA, various shipping firms, and multiple coating companies. As the director of the Applied Hydromechanics Lab at Florida Tech, Professor Hunsucker and his research group focus on hydrodynamic field testing for fouling control coatings, experimental hydrodynamics of fouled surfaces, and quantification of drag at full scale on ships.

“It’s just like, whoa. I saw this vehicle drop off the horizon on our beach. We see these beautiful photos of it orbiting the moon. And then, you’ll see it come into the well deck four weeks later," Hunsucker said, referring to the lower level of the ship that will be flooded to load the capsule onboard.
