Florida Tech Chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi Welcomes New Members

The Florida Tech chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi (PKP) welcomed dozens of new student, faculty and staff members during an initiation ceremony April 15 at Gleason Performing Arts Center.

The faculty and staff initiates were Robert Buttner ’12, Kathryn Hatfield ’23 MBA and Karly Horn, all from University Marketing & Web Services, and Christena Callahan ’07 M.S. from Creative Services; faculty member Vivek Sharma; and Dean of Students Cat Nanney.

In his opening remarks, President John Nicklow applauded the initiates for their accomplishments and future contributions to the world around them – but said now is not the time to rest.

“And as I often tell students during this traditional April awards season, I hope you aren’t satisfied,” he said. “I hope you reflect on your well-deserved accomplishment tonight. And then tomorrow, get to work and focus on the challenges that await you just around the next corner.”

Founded in 1897, PKP is the nation’s oldest and most selective multidisciplinary collegiate honor society. PKP initiates approximately 20,000 members a year on more than 300 campuses.

Florida Tech’s chapter was established in fall 2008.
