Florida Tech, PKP Chapter Participate in Carr Refuge Cleanup
Students, staff and faculty participated in the Clean the Carr Refuge event April 9 at the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge.
Hosted by Friends of the Carr Refuge, the event brought in dozens of volunteers to clean the beaches at the start of the 2022 turtle nesting season.
Tristan Fiedler, federal government programs manager, served as designated beach captain at the Sebastian inlet marina location. He was joined by members of the Florida Tech chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, including Michael Splitt, assistant professor of meteorology in the College of Aeronautics and organizer of the PKP participation, and Ph.D. students Caglar Erdogan, Angelica Zamora-Duran and Maureen Namukasa. Erdogan and Zamora-Duran are both PKP student vice presidents.
