INTRODUCING Partnership to Success: COPLA Faculty Mentoring Program

Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction. – John Crosby

I am pleased to announce the imminent launch of a new program designed specifically for COPLA faculty and instructors. The Partnership to Success: COPLA Faculty Mentoring program is a formal mentoring program in which a mentee faculty member will be paired with a mentor faculty member for the academic year to discuss professional issues.

How will it work?

You volunteer to be a mentor or mentee by filling out a brief form where you identify some of the potential areas you would like to discuss with a mentor/mentee. Partners will be matched based on interests and expertise. All volunteer participants will attend a kick-off luncheon in October (October 23, 2013). During this time you will get some coaching on what to expect from a formal mentoring program, the types of things you might want to discuss with your partner and how to set actionable professional goals. You will be introduced to your partner and receive a lunch coupon to Panther Dining Hall to help you begin your journey.

The Partnership to Success program will also host at least 2 panel discussions this academic year. During these panel discussions COPLA faculty with experience and expertise in a specific area will respond to formal questions posed by a moderator, as well as questions and discussion from the audience. The first panel discussion will be “Ready, Set, Prepare for Promotion.”
