Scott Center for Autism Treatment to Hold Vero Beach Open House Dec. 11

MELBOURNE, FLA. — The Vero Beach location of Florida Institute of Technology’s Scott Center for Autism Treatment is holding an open house from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11 at Sunshine Physical Therapy Center, 1705 17th Ave.

This Indian River County location of the Melbourne-based center offers several vital community services, including:

• Autism diagnostics
• Early intensive behavioral intervention
• School consultation and training
•Autism lunch and learns for professionals

After being named a 2014 Impact 100 Community Partner by Vero Beach-based Indian River Impact 100, the center opened this summer to offer the new and critically-needed resources and services to Indian River County, which lacked such offerings.

The new center seeks to help mitigate the effects of autism on children and caregivers; offer nationally-recognized, state-of-the art, evidence-based therapy; broaden community understanding about Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD); and offer a formal network of peer and other support for families whose children are affected by ASD.

Services also include assessment and treatment of problem behaviors, pediatric feeding problems, toilet training, and other behavioral issues that are often experienced by children with autism and related disabilities.

Visit www.thescottcenter.org for more information or call the Vero Beach center at (772) 444-2674.
