Florida Tech’s Mu Tau chapter of the Alpha Alpha Alpha Honor Society (Tri-Alpha) welcomed 58 new members during an initiation ceremony April 14.
During the ceremony, 48 students and 10 faculty and staff members, including Sara Bueno, Chelsea Carroll, Kyler Denk, Jennifer Groh, Madison Hatzel, Brian Lail, Wendy Murrell, Wanda Perez, Scott Peterson and Ce (Samuel) Su ’19 M.S, ’24 Ph.D., were inducted.
Provost John Z. Kiss served as the keynote speaker and was inducted into the honor society by Evans Library dean and chapter co-advisor Jason Martin as an honorary member.
“Being a first-generation student is a strength, and I really believe that,” Kiss said during the ceremony. “I’m big on mentorship. So, build relationships, take care of yourself and just remember: You belong here.”
With nearly 300 chapters nationwide, Tri-Alpha is the only honor society specifically for first-generation students. Membership is also open to first-generation alumni, faculty and staff.
Florida Tech’s chapter was established in spring 2025.
