Florida Tech Rising in 2022 College Rankings from Journal, Times Higher Ed

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Driven by increases in graduation rate, retention and resources, Florida Tech has risen among national universities in the 2022 Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College Rankings.

Florida Tech was No. 244 among the nearly 800 ranked schools, an improvement of 26 places since last year’s rankings.

In more focused lists released with the main rankings, Florida Tech’s excellence was clear. It remained a top school in the South, where it was No. 51 out of 208 schools, and in the Sunshine State specifically, it fared exceptionally well. Florida Tech was No. 4 among 22 Florida public and private schools on the 2022 rankings, and it was the No. 2 private school among the 12 Florida private institutions featured.

Within specific areas of study, Florida Tech was the top-ranked private school in Florida for engineering technologies and engineering-related fields engineering and No. 2 for engineering, biological and biomedical sciences, and computer and information sciences and support services.

“Schools that fare the best on this list have graduates who generally are satisfied with their educational experience and land relatively high-paying jobs that can help them pay down student loans,” the Journal wrote.

The annual list from the two prestigious publications ranked 796 U.S. colleges and universities on 15 factors across four main categories: 40 percent of each school’s overall score comes from student outcomes, including graduates’ salaries and debt; 30 percent comes from resources, including how much the college spends per student; 20 percent from student engagement, including whether students feel prepared to use their education in the real world, and 10 percent from the environment, including the diversity of the student body and academic staff.
