Florida Tech Again Earns ‘Military Friendly School’ Designation

University Recognized for Helping Student Veterans Thrive

MELBOURNE, FLA. — It’s official: Florida Tech will remain one of the nation’s top “military-friendly” schools after the university earned the Military Friendly® Schools designation for 2024-25.

Out of more than 1,800 participating schools, 537 earned a Gold, Silver or Bronze award. Florida Tech, which earned Silver, was the lone Florida school among the 28 Tier 2 research institutions to receive the distinction.

The program defines a “Military Friendly® School” as “one that strives towards and succeeds in the areas that matter most in helping veterans make the transition from the military to school and, ultimately, satisfying careers in the civilian world.”

Military Friendly® eligibility is determined through public data sources, proprietary data from a survey and personal data from surveys of veterans themselves. The surveys include questions found to be critical in helping student veterans succeed on campus and after graduation.

The process ultimately measures the ability to meet thresholds for retention, graduation, job placement, repayment, persistence and loan default rates for students — specifically, for student veterans.

“Military Friendly® is committed to transparency and providing consistent data-driven standards in our process. This creates a competitive atmosphere that encourages institutions to consistently evolve their programs,” said Kayla Lopez, national director of military partnerships at Military Friendly®. “Award level schools have gone beyond that standard, showing true commitment and dedication in their efforts.”

The 2024-2025 Military Friendly® Schools list was published in G.I. Jobs magazine’s spring edition.
