Junior civil engineering major Duncan Stanley is the Spring 2026 recipient of the International Medical Group’s Student Journey Scholarship.
The $5,000 national scholarship, awarded to one recipient in the spring and one in the fall, is designed to support international students in U.S. higher education. Stanley is a citizen of Jamaica.
“Duncan’s story is a powerful example of determination and purpose,” said Justin Poehler, IMG chief commercial officer. “We are honored to support him as he continues his academic journey and look forward to seeing the impact he will make in his field and in his home country.”
It was in Jamaica that Stanley drew inspiration from his father and his late grandfather, both of whom worked in construction. When his grandfather passed away, Stanley committed to pursuing civil engineering to honor his legacy.
“Receiving this scholarship means a great deal to me and my family,” Stanley told IMG. “It not only helps ease the financial burden of studying abroad, but it also reinforces my commitment to making the most of this opportunity and giving back to my community in Jamaica.”
The application window for the Fall 2026 scholarship is active through Oct. 4 and open to international students who are either planning to study in the United States or are currently enrolled in an accredited U.S. college or university at the undergraduate or graduate level.
The primary task is writing a 500-word essay or recording a 3-minute video answering the following prompt: “Describe your background and the journey that led you to pursue higher education in the United States. How will your education in the United States help you achieve your personal and professional goals?”
